Causes

It is necessary that one must be aware of the exact causes of the condition. The following are the most commonly observed causes.

Heredity

The most obvious reason is hereditary and genetic makeup of the individual. It is widely believed that if a person's parents or grandparents experienced excessive hair fall, then they would suffer from the same as well.
There are many scientific methods to get rid of this problem though, but this condition that occurs due to genetic causes is not entirely curable.
Alopecia areata is a disease by which some women are affected. Due to this ailment a woman experiences the presence of large round-shaped bald patches on the scalp. Androgenic alopecia is the most common form of baldness seen. The hair starts thinning out from the front of the scalp, and slowly progresses to the back of the scalp and to the top of the head.

Excessive Use of Chemicals and Dyes

This is a major disadvantage of using various hair dyes, hair accessories, hair colors, and chemicals in the hair. Loss of hair is common among women who use these products a lot. These are chemically enhanced products that damage the hair in the long run, even though their short term benefits are fashionable to see.

Pregnancy

When a woman is pregnant, this condition is visibly diminished. But a few weeks after the child is born, the loss of hair occurs more frequently and more densely than before. This is not an abnormal occurrence, and almost every female would experience this phenomenon.

Infections and Medications

There are certain infections that a woman may be suffering from, which could lead to this condition. The medications for certain ailments are a known cause of this condition as well. Preventing the condition would be relatively simpler in this case, as all one would need to do is ascertain the cause, and then act accordingly.

Thyroid Disease

The condition in females has been scientifically proven to be caused by an over-active or under-active thyroid gland. However, these cases can also be easily treated.

Prevention Measures

This condition is a syndrome that many women suffer from, however, there are a number of treatments that are available in order to cure this ailment. Employing one of these treatments, or a combination of more than one of these treatments can effectively aid in getting rid of the problem.

Hair Care

The first and most obvious tip is to take good care of the hair. Avoid excessive use of hair curlers, hair straighteners, hair irons, hair dyes, and other such potentially harmful products. Using too much of these products could lead to a lot of serious repercussions, that are entirely avoidable.

Braiding

Many women have a tendency of stretching their hair very tightly in order to braid it, or to tie it. This is another cause of this condition and it can easily be stopped. Avoiding tightly stretched braids would prove more effective.

Calcium

The advantages of having sufficient amounts of calcium in the diet is not just restricted to strengthening the bones and teeth. The roots of the hair also grow stronger if the body receives sufficient amounts of calcium in the diet.

Shampoos

The kind of shampoo that one uses could also be used as a hair fall prevention tool. One should avoid using shampoos that are very harsh and strong, use softer and lighter shampoos instead. Excessive use a hair dryer and wearing caps for a long period of time also leads to this condition. Avoiding the excessive usage of the same may help in getting rid of this condition.

Alopecia Areata

A woman affected by this condition could use one of the following remedies. Anthralin, topical immunotherapy, glucocorticoids, and biological response modifiers like minoxidil. The age of the person involved and the severity of the problem would help in determining which treatment is better suited for an individual.
If one faces the condition of excessive loss of hair, then one could even opt for surgery. Getting a hair transplant surgery is a complicated and expensive procedure and should be chosen only if the case is very extreme in nature. However, it is important to remember that in the long run, the surgery could also end up doing more damage than good.
The expenses of the treatments available are insignificant, as the overall aim is to combat this ailment, achieve mental satisfaction, and physical relief. There are many techniques that can be employed to prevent this condition, and one must choose the one that is best suited for them.
