Vitamin E helps in hair growth and hair nourishment. Vitamin E, chemically referred as alpha-tocopherol, is a fat-soluble vitamin which offers you lots of health benefits.
Today, alopecia has become a major health concern worldwide. To curb this, it is essential to include sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals in your diet. Vitamins like A, B, C, and E are important for a healthy scalp and hair.

Antioxidants present in Vitamin E protect the body cells from free radicals. Most of the time, the free radicals are spread through smoking and pollution, which can lead to degenerative changes and early aging.
This may also cause early graying of the hair, baldness, or hair loss. Therefore, intake of Vitamin E is essential for good health of hair, which strengthens the hair roots and prevents hair fall. Many hair care products such as shampoos and conditioners contain sufficient amount of Vitamin E.

Vitamin E deficiency

Though it's very easy to include Vitamin E in our diet through our daily food (green vegetables and oils), some people may encounter with its deficiency. The main causes of Vitamin E deficiency include the inability to absorb and digest food properly.
Usually, people with zinc deficiencies, tend to suffer from vitamin deficiencies. Scientifically, human body requires zinc to absorb or utilize Vitamin E. Thus, in such case an individual may face hair issues like dryness, brittleness, shedding, or thinning of hair.

Ways to Grow Your Hair

Food Intake

Some of the best sources of Vitamin E are nuts, spinach, soybeans, wheat germ, sprouts, broccoli, eggs, seeds, avocados, and olive oil.
Almonds are rich in vitamin E and daily consumption of almonds is effective in lowering the LDL cholesterol levels, which is responsible for hair fall. It also improves the blood circulation in the scalp and improves the overall health of hair.

Local Application

Mix jojoba oil, olive oil, Vitamin E oil or vitamin E supplements in the form of tablets or capsules together or separately and massage.

Local Application Methods

Method 1 - Scalp Massage with Vitamin E Oil

Scalp massage treatment using Vitamin E oil can arrest hair fall to a great extent. It increases the blood circulation and oxygen supply to the scalp. You can also try almond oil combined with coconut or jojoba oil.
Lukewarm the oil before applying it on the scalp. Comb your hair, remember leave them free of any hair accessories like pins, headbands, and undo the ponytail before you proceed. Massage your hair after dividing them into 2 to 4 parts.
The best way is to divide them into four parts; front to back and left ear to right ear. Short hair does not require any kind of partition. Take a little oil on your fingertips and slowly massage your scalp in a circular motion from temple to center then down. This method can also be done reversely.
Oil application can also be done with cotton ball or if you don't want direct exposure to hand, use gloves for hair massage. This will take around 5-10 minutes.
When you are done with massage, take steam with the help of a warm bath towel by wrapping it around the hair like a turban and wait for at least 10-15 minutes. Those who are not comfortable with this method can use steam vaporizer instead.
After around 1 hour, wash your hair with a herbal shampoo or any mild shampoo. It is recommended to massage the hair for at least once in a week for 4 to 5 months. If continued on a regular basis, the problem of hair loss will decrease over the period of time.

Method 2 - Direct Application with Vitamin E Capsules

You can also opt for vitamin E supplements which are available in the form of capsules. These capsules are available in yellow, pink, and green color. They provide chemical forms of alpha-tocopherol (the most powerful antioxidant) and less quantity of tocotrienols.
While the natural sources of Vitamin E contain 8 chemical forms, such as 4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. In case of damaged hair, you can apply vitamin E supplements directly to the hair.
Step 1: Take about 15-20 capsules and cut them up into a bowl. You can shampoo your hair before this application or else can apply directly without hair wash. It will be more effective on washed hair as vitamin E will penetrate soon in the scalp.
Step 2: After cutting the capsules in a bowl, we will get liquid form like gel.
Step 3: Divide your hair into 4 parts for scalp massage treatment.
Step 4: Now apply this liquid form gel from the root till the tip of the hair with help of a dye brush thoroughly.
Step 5: Now wash the hair after an hour with a mild shampoo.
Over a period of time, the damaged hair will be strengthened and splitting of hair will be prevented.Do not add water to make liquid form gel. The amount of capsules depends on the length and volume of your hair. Around 15-20 capsules are enough for average length hair.
You can also add small quantities of carrot oil (for dry hair), sesame oil (for oily hair) or grape seeds oil (for normal hair) while trying out this method. If you're having dry hair, you can use this application frequently.

Method 3 - Deep Conditioning

Mix some olive and Vitamin E oil together and apply them to your hair. Leave them overnight for conditioning. This method will give life to your dry and damaged hair. You will not find split hair after following this method for few weeks.
