Trimming eyebrows, especially bulky ones, is as important as eyebrow shaping. As men age, their eyebrows can become very long, appearing almost unkempt. So trimming is very important for a groomed look.
Another benefit is that it gives a youthful appearance. Besides tweezing and waxing, trimming is required for women as well in order to get perfect eyebrows.

Procedure

You need two things: flat trimming scissors and a fine-toothed comb. Do not use a curved trimmer, especially if you are a first-timer, since they are pretty hard to use.

Step 1

Take a fine-toothed comb and brush the hair of your eyebrows in an upward direction. The hair above your natural eyebrow shape are the ones that need to be trimmed.

Step 2

Take a pair of small scissors, preferably clippers, and cut the extra hair. In most cases, this is all you need. However if you have some really thick and bushy eyebrows, then move on to the next step.

Step 3

Take the comb and brush the hair downwards by placing the comb really close to the skin. This will help to trim the really short hair with clippers. If you prefer your brows to be longer, keep the comb slightly further from the skin. Now, take the clippers and cut the extra hair.

Step 4

For most women, this is more than enough to get rid of any extra hair. However, men may still need some more work. Starting from the inner end of the brows, take a small section of the eyebrow hair in the comb, and remove the ones which are above it.

Step 5

You will have to continue cutting the hair in small sections until you reach the outer end of your eyebrow. Once you are done, take a look at your eyebrows--they should be even. If you feel that a certain part of them is still hairy or bulky, get rid of the hair from that section using the same method.

Step 6

Lastly, see if there is any stray hair left above or below your brow. If yes, get rid of them using clippers. Now move on to the other eyebrow and repeat steps 1 to 6.
Although many people use fingers instead of a comb for trimming, it is not recommend as using a comb prevents over-cutting. So even if you are trimming your brows for the first time, there definitely won't be any bald patches in your eyebrows.
