Rutuja Jathar
Are you in search of some cute and simple updos that are easy to make? Well, all that you need to do is to read the information given about some hairstyles.
Those silky and soft fringes and free falling locks might be an epitome of beauty and flamboyance, but there are a few occasions that demand elegance and femininity. In my opinion, occasions like prom nights, graduation parties, cocktail parties, and weddings cannot be complete without beautiful updo hairstyles.
One thing that comes to everyone's mind with updos is finding a hairstylist and shelling hundreds of bucks just for the sake of an event that won't even last longer than a few hours. But, you can easily learn to do some simple updos on your own, and that too without asking for help from anybody.

For Long Hair

If you want quick and easy updos for your long hair, then here are instructions for two classic but elegant hairstyles, which are French twist and messy updo.

Messy Updo

This is an excellent hairstyle for wavy as well as curly hair, but it can look great with straight hair as well. To make a messy updo for straight and long hair, you need to first make your straight hair messy. For this purpose, you can use a sea salt spray or mousse.
Once you are done with the application, make four equal sections of your hair. Now, take each section in your hand and roll/twist it up. Pin that twisted section of hair at the back of your head and repeat twisting with the rest of the hair. Take out a few fringes around the face and you are ready with your casual hairstyle!

French Twist

If you are looking for something really classic yet formal, then the French twist is all that you need to learn. The best thing about it is that you can do it own your own.
First of all, untangle your hair and then part them into two equal sections at the middle of the head. Secure one section of the hair with a rubber band. Now, tightly twist from the front section of the free section of your hair and keep twisting it until you reach the ear. Then, secure the twist with the help of a barrette.
Repeat the same procedure with the front section of the other section of the hair. Then, gather the remaining free hair and tuck it into the French twist.

For Medium Hair

If you bear medium-length hair, then you can try all the updos meant for long as well as short hair. Apart from the mentioned long hairstyles, here are a few cute updos for medium-length hair.

Half Updo

As the name suggests, a half updo concentrates on partly free and partly tied hair strands. That is the reason why you should always perform such hairstyles with clean and freshly washed hair.
Once the hair gets dry, untangle it and apply some hair spray on it so that it becomes more manageable (in case you have too silky, wavy, or curly hair). Then, with the help of a curling iron, create small sections of hair. Once you are done with curling them, start fixing the small curled strands to your head with help of the bobby pins or simple hair pins.
Curl the ends of these fixed hair strands. Now, repeat the same procedure with the rest of the hair and secure them one besides the other. You can decorate this updo with a few elegant accessories, and you are ready!

Five-minute Updo

This is an easy hairstyle that can be tried for medium length hair. The best thing about this is that you need only limited resources and a minimal amount of time.
First of all, apply mousse on your hair and then blow dry it by moving the dryer in downward direction. Don't forget to tease the hair at the front and at the crown to get that chic look.
Now, create a few uneven sections of the hair and twist each section, and secure it at the nape with the help of the bobby pins. Once you are done with twisting all the sections, decorate this hairstyle with a couple of jeweled pins or other accessories.

For Short Hair

There are many easy ways to do your hair in various trendy, simple, and cute hairstyles. You can create some chic updos even if you have short hair. Here are the instructions for short hair updos that are easy to learn and carry on various occasions like prom and wedding.

Bun

There are numerous types of buns that you can try with short hair. To do this hairstyle, first tie your hair into a ponytail at the middle of back of your head and secure it with a rubber.
Then, take a strand from the ponytail and twist it around your fingers. Secure this twist at the side of the rubber and secure it with a bobby pin.
Once you are done with all these steps, then repeat the same procedure by taking small hair strands from the remaining free hair from the pony. Secure all the twists around the rubber and you are done with one of the cutest updos ever.

Curly Updo

If you are in search of some curly updos, then you can try this one. This is one of the best hairstyles for weddings if your hair is too short and can't be tied into a pony or any other fancy updo.
To do this hairstyle with straight hair, you have to first curl the ends of the hair with gel. Then, pull the front hair back and secure them at the back of the head, just below the crown. You need to use bobby pins or narrow pins for this purpose. Then, take strands from both the sides of your head and secure them with bobby pins.
After this, collect all your hair from the nape to the crown and secure it with bobby pins. Since you have secured hair from all sides of the head, this will leave free hair at the center of the head. Take all the free hair, twist them outward, and secure them with hair spray or pomade.
There are a number of simple updos that can be perfect for short, long, as well as medium hair. Hope the given instructions were found comprehensive!
