Split ends are a nightmare. Period. Being worried about them is justified though, as it is not a very healthy sign for your hair. And yet, worrying is not the solution. The solution lies in the tips that follow.
#1 Start by washing your hair with warm (not hot) water and a good moisturizing shampoo. Pat the wet hair dry using a soft towel. Comb your washed hair and free all the tangled strands using a wide tooth comb.
#2 Among the many causes of split ends, dry hair is one of the most common, so condition your hair after shampooing. Let the conditioner stay for around 5 minutes. After that, rinse the conditioner with cold water. This seals the hair shaft and in turn curbs the development of splits.
#3 You can try applying olive oil to the roots of your hair. Leave it overnight and wash it off normally the next morning. This olive oil treatment nourishes your hair from root to tip and repairs the split ends in turn.
#4 If nothing else works, just snip the ends with a good pair of scissors. Hold a section of your hair facing the mirror and then twist it. Snip off the ends that stick out. Be careful while doing this, lest you cut too much of your hair.
If you don't wish to cut your hair short, you may use a hair care product which is known as the 'split ender'. This is a good solution that deals specifically with split ends and claims to be very effective. You may also consider using intensive conditioners, shine serum, or leave-in conditioners.
Moreover, you should take care of your overall health too, because your general health has an impact on your hair and in turn, hair is a reflection of your overall health. Following a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and regular exercise contribute to healthier hair, free of any split ends.
