The prom is considered as the most important social event of the year in any high school student's life. And obviously, you would want to look your best on this day! For that, you must have your beautiful dress, high-heeled shoes, and other matching accessories all planned out. But what about your beautiful long tresses?
For any social event, especially a prom, a key element for creating the perfect look is the hairstyle. Choosing an appropriate one can be a daunting task, but it does not have to be so. Here are various choices for prom hairstyles for long hair, which will complement your dress and make up.

Ideas

The hair is considered to be a woman's most noticeable feminine feature. Choosing the right style for your hair is crucial for looking your best on the D-day. Your style should accentuate your dress, face, and make up. While there are a lot of choices available, it is important to find one that brings out the best in you.
Most girls with long hair generally tie their hair. But for such an event, it is necessary to add a little glamor to your regular style, because after all, we all want to look unique and glamorous on this special day!

Wavy Look

If you have long, cascading, poker straight hair, and you want a different look, then the ideal option is to add a wavy effect to your hair.
To get such a wavy effect, immediately after washing your hair, scrunch your wet hair in your palm, and squeeze tightly towards the root. Continue this by taking each section of your hair all around your head. Apply mousse so that the hair sets in.
Do not dry your hair with a blow dryer, instead, let it air dry. After it is dry, roll one-inch sections around a one and a half-inch curling iron. Finger comb your hair to separate the curls into loose waves. Do not forget to use hairspray. You can use hair accessories, like pretty hair clips to complete the look.

Chignon

A chignon is a great option for a cute look. Opt for a messy chignon for a more stylish and chic effect. Pull all your hair up into a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck.
Cover the elastic band with your random hair strands, and secure it with a bobby pin underneath the ponytail. Twist the hair into itself, and secure with bobby pins. Add flowers or small cute combs to complete the look. This is a great choice if you want a chic, out-of-bed look, with a touch of class.

Classic Updo

If you want a formal haido, then you can opt for a classic updo. For getting this look, start by blow drying your hair straight. Apply an anti-frizz mousse or serum. Tie your hair in a high ponytail.
Then, separate your ponytail into sections, each about one inch wide. Hold a section of your hair in an upwards direction, and roll the hair toward your head, and secure it with a bobby pin. Repeat rolling on all the sections. Then, apply hairspray, and voila! You have a classic updo!

Side-Swept Ponytail

If you have long hair, another option is to go for a side swept ponytail. This look is a great choice for long, curly hair. Start by securing the hair at the base of the neck so that the ponytail drapes over the shoulder.
To give it a more complete look, add bangs and secure with a jeweled clip or a satin ribbon.
While choosing any of the mentioned options, it's important to take into consideration other factors, like the shape of your face, and your body type. Also, it is important to plan ahead and select the style.
And keep practicing it so that you do not make a mess of it on the night of the event. Also, never try a new style on that night, as it will most likely result in a disaster. So, go ahead and try these hairdos on your gorgeous, long locks!
