Commercial hair dyes contain harsh chemicals that might have an adverse effect on your hair and can cause hair damage. These dyes can also lead to hair loss. Hence, instead of using these, one can opt for natural hair dyes that can be made easily at home with the products present in your kitchen.
Also, these do not cause harm to your hair as they are devoid of synthetic chemicals. Natural hair dye products are available at medical or general stores. Before you apply any of those, having complete natural hair dye information is mandatory as it will aid you in the dyeing process.
#1 Rosemary and Sage
The materials you will require for making this hair dye are rosemary, sage and water. The first step is to mix rosemary and sage in equal amounts. You can take ½ cup of each liquid. Next, add this mixture to two cups of water.
Now, on a low flame, heat this mixture. Allow it to soak for an hour after which, you can strain the liquid and use it. Take this liquid in your hands and apply it uniformly on the roots. Allow this mixture to remain on the hair for 40 to 60 minutes and then wash it off.
Initially, for a month, do this twice a week, and later on, once a week will be enough. This will help in darkening your gray hair, fighting dandruff, and strengthening the hair. The darkening is mainly because of sage in the mixture.
#2 Henna
How can one forget henna when talking about natural hair dyes? This is supposed to be very effective and has hardly any side effects. In an iron vessel, put 3 to 4 teaspoons of henna and add warm water to it. To this mixture, you can also add plain yogurt, egg, and a few drops of lemon juice. Mix it well and allow it to soak overnight.
Next morning, you can apply it to your hair evenly. Allow it to remain on the hair for 2 hours, and later, wash it off. If you want dark red colored hair, then you can opt for a copper vessel. Else, for black hair, a steel vessel is best.
#3 Chamomile Tea
You can also make a hair dye with tea. You will require are chamomile tea bags, water, lavender and yogurt. Take 1½ cup of water and boil it. Put 6 to 8 chamomile tea bags in it. After 30 minutes, remove these tea bags. Now, add 8 to 10 drops of lavender oil to this liquid. After this add ¾ cup of plain yogurt to this mixture. Make sure that you mix it well.
Apply this mixture uniformly and let it be on your hair for 45 minutes after which, it can be washed with plain water and mild shampoo. After this, you can apply conditioner to your hair. Chamomile helps in the process of darkening. This process can be repeated once in a week. This suits all kinds of hair.
In most cases, adverse effects are not observed. But, if after applying you experience any side effect, discontinue with its usage. Also, if any of the products doesn't suit your hair, refrain from its usage.
