Messy Bun Updos

One of the hottest trends for any occasion is the messy bun. This article explains how you can get this casual updo look at home.
Many women think of updos as difficult hairstyles that can only be done in a salon by a professional. However, some styles like a messy updo are easy and simple to create at home. They require minimum styling products, and you can do them even if you don't have newly washed hair.
The messy bun is less complicated to create than a formal bun, and you can dress it up by using different types of hair accessories like barrettes, bejeweled pins, and hair combs. This hairstyle gives you a tousled look that is both soft and romantic, and it is just right for a casual party.

Quick Messy Bun

First, you need to shampoo and condition your hair with a volumizing shampoo and an anti frizz conditioner. Using a volumizing shampoo is especially important if you have fine, thin hair. This will give your bun more volume. Apply a bit of hair mousse to your hair and blow dry it straight using a paddle brush.
Once you are done blow drying your hair, take the front section of your hair and back comb it to get more volume. Take a one or two-inch section of hair from the front and use a rattail comb to tease your hair. When you have teased the entire front section, pull this section of hair backwards and tie it into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.
Twist the ponytail softly around the base in a clockwise direction, and pin it in place using bobby pins. Pull out a few strands of hair from both sides of your face to give your face a soft look. Spritz your hair with a strong-hold hairspray to secure the style.

Elegant Messy Bun

First, shampoo and condition your hair with a volumizing shampoo and shine enhancing conditioner. Apply a volumizing hairspray to your hair and then use a diffuser to blow dry your hair. Tease the front section of your hair with a fine-toothed comb to create volume. Create soft and loose curls with the rest of your hair using a medium barreled curling iron.
Gently run your fingers through the curls to create extra volume. Make a low ponytail with your hair and secure it with an elastic band. Twist the ponytail to create a bun, and pin it in place with a few bobby pins. You can also use hair combs to keep the bun in place.
Allow the curls to hang loose from the bun, creating a soft look. Apply a final spritz of strong-hold hairspray to hold the hairstyle in place.
If you have very silky hair, then it might be difficult to keep the bun in place. In such a case, it is better to work with hair that has been washed a day or two before. Women with fine hair will benefit by first curling their hair before creating the bun. This will give your hair more volume and a romantic look. Remember to use a good hairspray, or you will end up with frizzy hair. A messy bun is the ultimate casual and chic hairstyle, and you should definitely give it a try.
