Fake eyelashes accentuate your eyes, making them look fuller and much more inviting. They are a boon for people with short skimpy lashes. However, the long lashes are meant not just for ones with short lashes. In fact, many celebrities opt for fake eyelashes to define and add a touch of glamor to their lashes.

Types of Fake Eyelashes

There are various types of fake eyelashes that you can use for your eye makeup. While the individual eye lashes are used to add volume to the lash line, fill in any gaps, or add length to the outside edge of your eyes, strip eyelashes can be attached to the entire length of the lash line.
These eyelashes are available in a range of colors, shapes, lengths, and some have sexy designs like those studded with crystals or sporting super-long, colorful feathers. Most fake eyelashes incorporate synthetic fibers.
However, you can also find ones that are made from sterilized human hair. While choosing the right eyelashes is important, knowing the proper methodology of putting on fake eyelashes with makeup, helps you get the natural look without looking tacky.

How to Put on Fake Eyelashes With Makeup?

For the application, you would need fake eyelashes, eyelash glue, small scissors, translucent powder, liquid eyeliner, tweezers, and mascara

Preparing the Eyelashes

Before you can put on the fake eyelashes, you need to clean your eyelids. This is because an excess of oil and sebum on the eyelids will not allow the eyelash adhesive to stick on. Moreover, if you plan to use an eyeshadow then apply it prior to attaching the fake eyelashes.

Trimming the Fake Eyelashes

Once you have chosen the eyelashes that you want to put on, the next step involves trimming them. This is because the lashes should not be wider than the eyes. Use small scissors to trim the outer corners of the eye in such a way that they fit the eyes.
This trimming of the fake eyelashes to the lash length should be done prior to sticking on the eyelashes. Remember, that your natural eyelashes are shorter along the inner side of the eyes, so trim and taper the lashes to make them resemble the real ones.

Gluing it On

Use a good quality glue to stick the fake eyelashes to your eyelids. Avoid using cheap glue that clumps up. Apply the glue to the eyelashes by squeezing out a small amount on your fingertips and running it across the fake eyelashes.
Try to avoid applying the glue to the eyelids as it can get into your eyes. In addition, if you want to know how to put on fake eyelashes without glue, then you might want to use the self-adhesive false eyelashes to avoid the mess up of the glue.

Place the Eyelashes

Once you have allowed the glue to become tacky, place the lash into its position by picking it up with tweezers and pressing it as close to the eyelids as possible.
Start with the outer corner of the eye and then move towards the inner part of the eyelids. Use a table to rest your elbows to steady your arms as you work. Once you are done, mask the space between the natural and fake eyelashes.

Applying Makeup

With your sky-high eyelashes in place, it is now time for the makeup. Curl your eyelashes and apply a liquid eyeliner to mask the space between the real and the false eyelashes.

Removing the Eyelashes

Remove your eyelashes carefully by using a damp cloth which has been dipped in warm water. Use this to soften the glue on the lash. This makes it easier to peel away the lashes.
While this method works with most water-based eyelash glues, certain stubborn lashes would require an eyelash remover or petroleum jelly to soften the lash. Pulling on the false eyelashes can not only lead to damage of the eyelids, but can also pull out some natural eyelashes as well.
Keep the original packing to store the eyelashes. Clean the eyelashes in a cleaning solution or dust off the debris from the eyelashes. Although applying the fake eyelashes perfectly needs time and practice, once you are comfortable with the basics, experiment with the bright colors and the jeweled fake eyelashes for a more glamorous look.
