How to Make Your Own Eye Creams at Home

The skin around our eyes is extremely sensitive and needs extra care. Read on to know some simple recipes to make your very own homemade eye creams.
No one wants to have dark circles or puffy eyes or wrinkles around the eyes. However, the skin around the eyes is extremely sensitive and highly susceptible to skin problems. No wonder, the first signs of aging can be seen around the eyes.
Eye creams are effective in dealing with wrinkles and dark circles around the eyes. However, most creams that are available in the market are really expensive. Thankfully, there are natural ways to make eye cream at home.
There are several products in your kitchen that you can use to make your own cream. This way, not only will you save a lot of money, but you can also control the quality of the product and you have a product that is tailor-made for your specific problem.
Moreover, you can personalize your product by incorporating a fragrance of your choice like lavender, aloe vera, etc. Invest in some essential oils of your choice and spare a few minutes to make an eye care product yourself.
Here are some homemade eye cream recipes that you can try. Remember, that you do not have to make it exactly how it is mentioned here, you can use ingredients of your choice and whatever fits in your budget.

Replenishing Night Eye Cream

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons evening primrose oil
  • 10 drops chamomile essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons grape seed oil
Preparation:

♠ Put all the 3 oils in a jar, mix it and store in a cool, dry place. Apply a few drops each night for smooth skin around the eyes.

Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream

Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons jojoba oil
  • 5 tablespoons rose water
  • 3 tablespoons apricot-kernel oil
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 8 drops carrot-seed essential oil
  • ¼ tablespoon borax
Preparation:

♠ Mix jojoba oil, apricot-kernel oil and beeswax in a pan and heat it on low flame. When the beeswax melts, remove from the flame and whisk it.

♠ In another pan, heat rose water and borax. Once borax has dissolved, remove from heat. Place the pan containing wax in a container filled with ice.
♠ While mixing the oil and wax, slowly add the rose water and borax mixture. When the mixture has cooled, add carrot-seed essential oil.

♠ Put this mixture in a container; it can be used for a month if kept at a cool temperature, and for 2 months if stored in a refrigerator.

Lanolin Eye Cream for Dark Circles

Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon lanolin
  • 1 tablespoon soybean flour
  • 1½ tablespoon almond oil
  • 2 tablespoons chilled water
Preparation:

♠ Heat lanolin on low flame, once it melts, add almond oil to it. Remove the mixture from heat and add soybean powder and cold water.

♠ Stir the mixture, till it has completely mixed. Apply around the eyes every night and wipe off after 20 minutes. Leaving it overnight may result in puffy eyes.

Vitamin E Eye Cream

Ingredients:
  • 1 vitamin E capsule
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
  • 2 tablespoons witch hazel
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil
Preparation:

♠ In a double boiler, heat cocoa butter until it melts. In a container, put all the other ingredients. Add cocoa butter to the container when cool and stir.

Cucumber Eye Gel

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons cucumber juice
  • 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
  • 2 tablespoons witch hazel
  • ½ tablespoon cornstarch
Preparation:

♠ Heat cucumber juice, aloe vera gel and cornstarch in a pan on low flame. When the mixture boils, remove from flame and add witch hazel. Mix and let it cool. Store in a jar and use as required.

Elderflower Tightening Gel

Ingredients:
  • ½ teaspoon dried eyebright leaves
  • 1 elderflower teabag/fresh sprig
  • 150 ml water
  • 1 teaspoon powdered gelatin
Preparation:

♠ Put the eyebright and elderflower in a pan and add water. Let it boil and then cover it for about 10 minutes. Once the mixture cools, strain it.

♠ Put gelatin and 3 tablespoons of the infusion in a pan. Heat on low flame till the gelatin melts. Pour in a container and leave it open till it cools.

Lavender Eye Serum

Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons jojoba oil
  • 2 tablespoons grape seed oil
  • 6 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops bergamot essential oil
  • 4 drops roman chamomile essential oil
Preparation:

♠ Combine all the oils in a jar. Mix well and apply one to two drops around the eyes. It can also be used as a facial serum.
Store any cream you make in a tight container away from sunlight. Whenever you are applying cream around the eyes, use your fingers and massage a small amount, very gently. Make sure no cream enters the eyes.
