This condition usually develops in one's teenage years, although adults too are quite prone to it.

Selective Eating

Research has shown that there are some foods that aggravate cystic acne. So, in order to get rid of it, give up on foods such as those that contain trans fats i.e. fried and fast foods, dairy foods as well as high-sugar foods. If you can not give them up, at least limit their consumption.

Healthy Eating

Develop healthy eating habits. Include more of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Being rich in fiber, they are known to remove the toxins from the body that can otherwise lead to acne flare-ups.

Water Intake

Drink at least a gallon of water every day. Water aids in the removal of wastes, toxins and harmful acids in the body, thus contributing to making the skin, clear and glowing. Water is one of the best home treatments for cystic acne.

Cleanliness and Hygiene

Keep your skin free of dirt, bacteria, and sweat at all times. Invest in a good quality face wash and clean your face with it twice a day, once in the morning and once before sleeping. Do not let sweat to build-up on the skin. Clean your skin and take shower if you have been exercising.

Lemon Juice

Apply lemon juice on the affected area. Due to its astringent properties, lemon juice removes oil from the skin and reduces the swelling around the cyst. After application of lemon juice, it should be left on the skin for fifteen minutes and then washed off with water. Apply it twice a week for best results.

Gram Flour and Milk Mask

Gram flour mask application is an effective home remedy to get rid of cystic acne. To prepare this oil-controlling mask, take a tablespoon of gram flour, add a pinch of turmeric, and enough water to form a paste. Apply this mask on the affected area and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Splash water and then remove it by massaging the skin with the mask in circular motions. This mask controls sebum production and at the same time lightens the scars over time.

Aspirin

To get rid of the swelling and pain associated with this acne, crush an aspirin tablet, mix it's powder with water to form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected skin area and leave it on for ten minutes. Later wash off with lukewarm water.

Stress Management

Stress is one of the primary reasons behind acne. Performing yoga, mediation, and exercising everyday are some of the ways to manage your stress healthily.
Besides the above given tips, other effective home remedies for this condition are - application of oatmeal, aloe vera, potato juice, baking soda, and tree tea oil on the skin. However, if the acne is severe and refuses to be controlled even with the preventive measures and cures mentioned here, it is advised to consult a dermatologist as soon as possible.
