Everyone wants glowing, healthy skin. But sometimes it's hard to get rid of those spots or blemishes. There are various causes and remedies for an uneven skin tone.

Causes

Uneven skin may develop due to various reasons. It may be due to hyperpigmentation, freckles, scars, or blemishes. The cause of hyperpigmentation is mainly due to excessive and continuous exposure to sunlight. Sometimes the use of anti-aging creams make the skin more sensitive to sunlight as these creams contain exfoliators.
Using a lot of make up is harmful to the skin. These chemicals will react with your skin to give undesirable effects.

Some light makeup using natural products is safer than harsh chemicals. Use of strong chemicals can lead to acne and pimples. These leave scars behind, and result in unevenness. Sometimes, it is the hormonal imbalance which may show up on your skin.

Natural Remedies

1. Dry some orange peels in the sun for a couple of days. Make a powder of these peels, and make a paste with a little water. Apply this as a face pack, and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Apply this face pack once every three days and you will notice the change. Your skin will definitely even out.
2. Chamomile is an effective natural toner that helps prevent the formation of brown spots due to sunlight. Brew a strong cup of tea using a chamomile tea bag, steep this for 3-4 hours, and mix it with witch hazel which acts as an astringent. Apply this after washing your face.
3. Tea tree extracts work like a miracle for blemishes and scars caused due to acne. Just dab on a few drops on the affected area. Do this for a few months and your skin will clear up.
4. Natural face scrubs containing apricot and turmeric act as exfoliators and help to get a uniform color.
5. The simplest way to prevent pigmentation or unevenness is to drink lots of water and wash your face regularly.

Products Available

If home remedies are not working, the next best thing is trying commercial products. If you are spending too much time under the sun then always keep a sunscreen handy. An ideal sunscreen would be SPF 15 or higher.
There are few products such as skin tone correctors available in the market that you could try along with a few serums that are meant to fix this problem. You could use makeup concealers to hide the spots or unevenness of the skin as a temporary fix.
You could also visit a dermatologist. Your skin may only be a symptom of some physiological condition.
