Moreover, concealers also hide the ugly dark circles under eyes. It is essential to apply concealer the right way and also know how much to apply. This is because too much of concealer can actually highlight what you want to hide.
If you want to neutralize the blemishes, dark spots, under eye circles, fine lines, and other marks on the face and blend them with the skin tone to provide a smooth makeup base, then here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply concealer correctly.

How to Apply a Concealer Correctly

Select the Concealer

Choosing the concealer is quite an important factor and should be determined by your needs. Concealers are available in a range of textures and shades and is designed for the skin type or the problem that you want to camouflage.
For example, a basic concealer used to cover up skin imperfections should be about one shade lighter than your skin tone, so that you can blend the imperfections.
In addition to this, there are a number of color correcting concealers. For pimples and acne, you would need green-toned concealer. Similarly, purple-toned concealers can lighten dark circles under the eyes.
Yellow-based concealers can effectively blend in with dark undertones. As for the skin type, liquid concealers perform best for dry skin and under eye makeup, while solid concealers in sticks are preferred to cover up pimples, scars, acne, and blemishes in oily skin.

Apply Moisturizer

Before you can apply the concealer, you need to first prepare your skin for it. Apply moisturizer on the face and under eye cream to the area with predominant dark circles.
Concealers can show off the dry spots on face, especially if you have been using acne treatments which can cause the skin to become flaky and dry. Applying concealers on the affected area will only make things worse.
It is thus, important to use a mild facial scrubber and a moisturizer before you apply the concealer. This gives the concealer a better surface to adhere to. Along with this, you also need to decide when to apply concealer and foundation.
So when you are using liquid or solid foundation, then you should apply the concealer only after applying the foundation. For cream-to-powder foundation, the concealers need to be used before applying the foundation.

Applying the Concealer

There are various ways by which you can apply the concealer on blemishes. With your clean fingers/ a makeup brush/ sponge dab on the concealer to the skin.
However, the best way of applying concealer is by using a small, tapered concealer brush. To apply concealer for dark circles, use a small amount of concealer and dab 4 to 5 tiny dots underneath each eye.
Now pat them with the brush and blend it with your ring finger or the sponge brush. Finish off by applying some loose powder to set the concealer in place. Remember that the correct way of applying concealer is by patting it and not rubbing the concealer in.
Whether you want to apply concealer on blemishes or on dark circles, choose the color and form of the concealer based on your requirements. A rule of knowing how much to use is that your fingertip should be seen when you have taken the concealer on it. So what are you waiting for? Use this with some great eye makeup to add sparkle to your puffy eyes.
