Curly hair can be tough to manage, where the constant fight with finding the right shampoos, conditioners, and hair care products can be difficult. The products, especially the shampoos, sold in the stores that claim to be gentle and effective, can actually do the exact opposite. At times, these shampoos tend to make the texture of your hair rough, dry, and brittle. So what can be done to escape such an issue while your hair is vulnerable in the sun and regular pollution? Instead of making hundreds of trips to the salon in hopes of finding the best shampoo, make one at home that'll suit your hair type perfectly.

Chamomile Shampoo

Ingredients:
  • Boiled water, 1½ cups
  • Chamomile flowers, 1 cup
  • Pure soap flakes, 4 tablespoons
  • Glycerin, 1½ tablespoons
Directions:
In a bowl, add the chamomile tea bags or flowers in with the boiled water. After 10 minutes, remove the tea bags or flowers and add the soap flakes. Let the soap turn soft and then add the glycerin. Stir with a wooden spoon and mix everything properly. Once the ingredients are combined, pour your shampoo in a clean bottle.

Aloe Vera Shampoo

Ingredients:
  • Aloe vera gel, 1 cup
  • Liquid Castile soap, ¼ cup
  • Distilled water, ¼ cup
  • Light vegetable oil, ¼ teaspoon
  • Glycerin, 1 teaspoon

Almond Shampoo

Ingredients:
  • ¼ cup distilled water
  • ¼ cup liquid Castile soap
  • ¼ teaspoon lemon essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons dried rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil

Directions:
Boil the water and add the dried rosemary in it. Leave it in for about 10―15 minutes and then strain the liquid. Let it cool and reach room temperature. Add the rest of the ingredients in it and mix properly. Pour the shampoo in a clean bottle and shake every time before use.

Chamomile-Peppermint Shampoo

Ingredients:
  • 6 chamomile tea bags
  • 6 peppermint tea bags
  • 4 tablespoons liquid olive oil based Castile soap
  • 2 cups of boiling water
  • 2 teaspoons jojoba oil

Directions:
In a pan, pour 2 cups of boiling water, chamomile tea bags, and peppermint tea bags. After about 20 minutes, remove the bags and let the liquid cool down. Once it reaches room temperature, pour the Castile soap and jojoba oil in the pan.
Stir the liquid properly and store in a clean bottle. You can use different tea bags if you don't like the combination of chamomile and peppermint.
