Homemade Face Wash

Homemade face wash contains no harmful elements, and is as beneficial as commercial products. Read on to about how to make face washes for different types of skins.

Traveling is a must for almost all of us. Due to industrialization and other reasons, the pollution has increased to such an extent that it has effects not only on our inner body, but also on our skin.
You must have experienced the layers of dirt and dust on your face at the end of a long tiring day, and you must also have observed that only soap is not sufficient to clear it.
Face wash is a good substitute to the regular soaps for cleaning your face. It helps to cleanse the face by removing dirt and by also moisturizing it.
Compared to soaps, face wash contains less chemicals, which is why it is a better choice. Face wash should be chosen according to the skin type. There are also special products for acne. Here are a few recipes of face wash for different skin types.

Face Wash for Oily Skin

  • 7 oz. yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. honey
Add lemon juice and honey to the yogurt and mix it well. After it is blended well, start applying it to the face. Apply evenly to the entire face, including the T-zone. While applying the face wash, massage in a circular motion. Rinse away with warm water.
  • 1 tsp. finely ground almonds
  • 2 drops orange essential oil
  • 2 tbsp. plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 kiwi fruit
  • 1 tbsp. apricot or almond oil
  • 1 tbsp. orange water
Prepare a puree of kiwi fruit. Add orange water, yogurt, and ground almonds to it. Blend until it forms a cream. Add orange essential oil and mix. Apply it on the face in a circular motion so that it penetrates in the skin and results into proper skin care. Rinse with warm water.

Face Wash for Sensitive Skin

  • 1 part baking soda
  • 2 parts ground oatmeal
Mix oatmeal and baking soda, and add ½ teaspoon of warm water to it. Rub gently on the face in a circular motion. Rinse off with warm water. You can also refrigerate this mixture for further use. Do not add water if you want to store it though. Add it only before application.
  • 1 tsp. yogurt
  • 1 tsp. honey
Add honey to the yogurt and mix well. Apply to the face and let it set for about 10 minutes. Wash off after 10 minutes with warm water. If the honey is hard, you can heat it to smoothen it. Yogurt will not only clean the face, but also exfoliate it naturally.

Face Wash for Dry Skin

  • 2 tbsp. whole milk
  • 1 tsp. almond oil
  • 1 tsp. honey
Add milk, oil, and honey in a bowl and mix well. Apply this mixture on the skin for about 2 minutes in a circular motion. Massage gently. Rinse off after application with the help of warm damp cloth and water.
  • 100g green lentils
  • 10g turmeric powder
  • 50g gram flour
  • 10g fenugreek seeds
  • Milk cream
Blend fenugreek seeds along with gram flour in a mixer. Add milk cream to this powder and apply it evenly to the face. Massage in a circular motion and wash off with warm water. You can store the powder and just add milk cream while applying. You can use this face wash daily in place of a soap.

Face Wash for Acne

  • ¼ tbsp. oatmeal
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • Water
Mix oatmeal with baking soda. Add water to this mixture one teaspoon at a time. Keep adding water till it forms a thick paste. Your face wash is ready. Apply this cream all over the face and leave for about 5-8 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Apply once or twice a week.
  • 3 drops vitamin E oil
  • 7 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 tbsp. jojoba oil
  • 3 drops geranium essential oil
  • 8 drops tea tree essential oil
Mix all the ingredients and put them in a 2 oz. glass bottle. Shake well before use. Apply on the face evenly and wash off with warm water. Remember to clean your face with water before applying the face wash to get the maximum effect. This recipe not only treats acne, but also makes the skin healthy.
Along with the use of face wash, also remember to take general facial care, like applying a good moisturizer and washing it at least twice a day.
