Exfoliating the skin is necessary to get rid of the dead cells. Body scrubs are exfoliating mixtures that help to remove these dead cells and also to expose the new smooth layer of skin. Exfoliation makes your skin healthy and gives a natural glow. You can buy ready-made body scrubs from a cosmetic shop, but preparing one at home is easy and inexpensive.
Exfoliant, fragrance, and oil are three basic ingredients of a scrub.  Rice, sugar, and salt are examples of exfoliants usually used. Essential oils are used for fragrance, and oils like almond or jojoba are used as carrier oils. All these ingredients are easily available, making your scrub that much easier to prepare.

Recipe #1

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup coarse brown sugar
  • ½ cup liquefied coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon pure coconut extract
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened dark cocoa powder
Directions:
Take a small bowl and combine the oil, sugar, and coconut extract. You can adjust the amount of ingredients to achieve the required consistency or texture. Then gradually add the cocoa powder and transfer the mixture to a small plastic jar. Refrigerate the jar and your scrub is ready to use.

Recipe #2

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup plain instant oatmeal
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 egg white
Directions:
This is a great scrub for dry skin. Take a mixing bowl and put the oats in it. Combine the honey and egg white, and mix with the oats. Rub this mixture on your skin for about 2 minutes. Leave it to dry for a while and rinse off with water. Avoid use on sunburned skin.

Recipe #3

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup almond oil
  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 5 to 15 drops essential oil
Directions:
Take a small bow, put in the salt and almond oil, and mix the ingredients with a wooden stick. Mix until you get a smooth texture, but see that it is not too oily. Then add the drops of essential oil to this mixture and combine everything together. You can use this scrub once a week.

Recipe #4

Ingredients:
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 3 tablespoons jojoba oil
  • ½ cup fresh papaya
  • ½ cup guava
Directions:
Take a bowl and combine the sugar, jojoba, and coconut milk in it. Then puree the papaya and guava in a food processor and add this to the sugar-oil mixture. Take an exfoliating brush, run it over your body, and rinse off in the shower. Pat your skin dry and apply the scrub on your body. Leave it on for 5 to 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.
