Pedicure is the perfect and affordable way to keep your nails healthy. Let's see its basic procedure, along with some home pedicure recipes.
The purpose of doing a pedicure is to clean and beautify the feet. You can get it done from a beauty salon or do it yourself at the comfort of your home. The basic process of pedicure involves the following four steps:
  1. Soaking feet in warm water
  2. Exfoliating the dead skin cells
  3. Trimming and painting the toe nails
  4. Applying a good quality moisturizer
You may mix different cosmetic products in the water for different effects on your feet. Similarly, you may use different substances to scrub your feet with to get the desired exfoliation effect.
Here are some of the available recipes for doing a pedicure in the comfort of your home. You can use the one which gives you the best results regularly.
You may change home pedicure products in accordance with your personal interest and availability of resources. Ideally, a pedicure should be done once every 15 days. Doing it more often may make the skin of your feet dry and wrinkled. Be careful and follow the instructions given here.

How to Give Yourself a Pedicure at Home?

Take bowl and fill it with warm water. Add a dollop of shampoo, 4-5 drops of rose water, and 2-3 drops of any essential oil of your choice. Mix all the ingredients well to form lather. Soak your feet into it for about 10-15 minutes
The warm water will loosen up the dead skin cells, and thus will ease the process of exfoliation. Take a scrubbing agent, preferably with almond extracts, and rub the feet gently with it. Take a pumice stone and rub the skin with it. Both will serve the purpose of exfoliation.
If you are wearing any nail polish on the toe nails, remove it with acetone. Take a nail cutter and trim the toe nails, and bring the nails in shape with a filer. Now, wash your feet with plain warm water, and pat dry them with a towel.
Apply a thick layer of good quality moisturizer. Wear socks for the next 3-4 hours to prevent the escape of moisture from your feet to the atmosphere.

Different Recipes

The home pedicure recipes given here can be easily made from the material available at home. You can derive different results by using different ingredients to make soak water and feet scrub.

Recipe #1:

Make the soak water by mixing warm water with half a cup of bath salt and a cup of fresh milk. The lactic acid in milk helps in loosening the dead skin.
Make the feet scrub by mixing a cup of baby oil and half a cup of coarse sea salt.

Recipe #2:

Mix a cup of fresh milk, 2-3 drops of almond extract, and a bowl of warm water together to form soak water. You may use a paste made by mixing gram flour and yogurt as a feet scrub.

Recipe #3:

Mix a bowl of warm water with 3-4 drops of honey and 9-10 drops of lemon juice/vinegar. Use this mixture as the soak water. Make a paste with banana and honey, and rub it on your feet.
