Frown lines usually develop around the mouth, or on the forehead, and they can look really unsightly and give your face a tired look. However, there are some methods that can help eliminate these lines, which are discussed here.
Frown lines are often termed as 'dynamic wrinkles' that generally appear around the mouth, on the forehead, or between the eyes. They appear due to the repetitive movements of the underlying muscles, caused by the actions like frowning or squinting. However, such facial expressions take years to leave their imprints on our face.
So, frown lines appear when our skin starts to age and lose its natural moisture and elasticity. With advancing age, the production of collagen and elastin decreases. These are the fibrous scleroproteins, which maintain skin elasticity, and keep the skin taut.
As their production decreases, the skin becomes less elastic and as a result, fine lines and wrinkles develop. This process of aging is accelerated by factors like excessive exposure to sun, and smoking.

The effects of botox can last for a few months. Another option is the fillers, which include, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and calcium hydroxyapatite. Many times, fillers and botox are used together to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines.
Apart from these, other non-surgical treatment options, such as skin resurfacing techniques, like chemical peels, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing are also used for frown line removal. The surgical brow lift or forehead lift is another treatment option, and its effect can last for years.

Tips from Removing Frown Lines

Protect your skin from the damaging effects of sunlight. So, apply a sunscreen or a sunblock on your skin whenever you step out in the sun. Wear sunglasses or a wide-brimmed hat while going out, in order to protect the skin around the eyes from sunlight.
Apply a good quality, anti-wrinkle cream on the areas where these pesky lines appear. Also use a good moisturizer to keep your skin soft and supple.
Creams and lotions that contain alpha and beta hydroxy acids are quite beneficial for aging and wrinkled skin. These acids help remove or exfoliate dead skin cells, and thereby, reveal a more younger looking skin.
You can also use creams and lotions that contain retinol or vitamin A, vitamin C, and alpha lipoic acid.
Facial massage can help smooth out wrinkles and frown lines. Likewise, regular exfoliation can help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face. Facial exercises may take time, but they can definitely improve your skin texture and muscle tone, by improving the flow of blood to the area.
Use oils like coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil to keep your skin soft and supple. These oils can help keep your skin moisturized, and thereby reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles.
You can also talk to a dermatologist regarding the use of retin-A, which can stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen. At the same time, it is equally important to follow a healthy diet.
Foods that contain essential fatty acids, such as fish and flaxseed oil, as well as foods that contain antioxidants can help keep your skin healthy and younger looking. So, replace processed foods with fresh fruits and vegetable, exercise regularly, and drink plenty of water, and you will notice a marked difference on your skin.
