The traditional French braid looks classy and stylish and can be worn for almost any occasion.
The French braid is an eternally popular hairstyle which will always will be in vogue. A great aspect about it is that it looks good and helps take care of otherwise unmanageable tresses. Whether your hair is straight, wavy or curly, you can try these different French braid hairstyles. They have a unique look and can serve to enhance your overall appearance.
Before you attempt these hairstyles, you must know how to make the basic French braid. After braiding your hair in a french braid you can use your creativity to create a personalized look.
This hairstyle adds jazz to the overall French braid. Make a single braid, and use a pick to pull out some strands of hair on the upper portion of the head and on the sides. Curl these loose strands of hair and give yourself a new look with the traditional style.
Make double braids on either side of the head, after centrally dividing the hair into two patterns and following the basic French braid instructions.
Begin braiding near the hairline. As you reach the back of the crown, make two more braids and then stop braiding. The loose hair can be tied or loosely braided in an English braid. Use jazzy accessories to highlight the hairstyle. Suits girls with wavy hair or soft curls.
This is a unique French braid style known as Dutch braid. While making the normal French braid, instead of taking the hair sections over each other, take them under each other. The effect of this braid adds a whole new dimension.
Part your hair at the center, into two sections. Make French braids on either side, till you reach the back of the crown. Now combine the remaining hair into one braid from here.
Another hairstyle is to make only two sections of hair instead of the traditional three sections. It gives the braid a thicker look, and will look better if it is slightly loose. Ensure it is not so loose as to open up.
Make a French braid only up to the back of the crown. Tie up the loose hair into a pony tail. Add more jazz to this look by picking out hair from the upper portion of the hair, and curling it. You can also curl the ends of your hair to jazz it up.
An interesting variation is the reverse braid. Flip your hair to the front and start braiding at the nape of your neck. You may want to get someone else to do this for you. Once done braiding collect the loose ends and tuck them under the braid and secure with a pin.
