Exfoliate Skin at Home

Mamta Mule
You don't know how to exfoliate skin at home? Then, try out the following scrub recipes to have flawless skin.
Beautiful skin is that which is soft and even, all over the body.Getting a soft skin is not a difficult task. Whatever your complexion may be, a soft and plain skin can have a glowing, healthy look.
If you are wondering about the expense to achieve this, then keep in mind this is not about cosmetic surgery or laser treatment! All you need to do is exfoliate skin at home. But, before that, let's quickly go over how exfoliation helps your skin.
Exfoliation of skin helps to eliminate dead cells, dirt and body secretions. After this, your new skin will be revealed, which was earlier hidden beneath this upper layer.
Skin exfoliation removes the impurities from your skin and erases problems like infected ingrown hair, pimples, skin infections, etc. Moreover, this helps reduce wrinkles and increases circulation, which brings vital nutrients to the skin and helps to eliminate body waste while massaging. So, all these benefits together help regenerate the skin.

Best Scrubs for Exfoliating Skin

Sugar Scrub

Sugar, readily available in your kitchen, makes one of the best scrubs. The fine grains of sugar make gentle and an effective exfoliant.

You require 1 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 cup almond or olive oil. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. You can also add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil for fragrance, if you want.
  • Wet your skin and apply the mixture over the skin with hands, washcloth, bath glove or loofah sponge in a circular manner. Focus on one part at a time. First rub it over the facial skin very gently, hands and so on.
  • After scrubbing the whole body, rinse it well with warm water. You can apply an antiseptic or toner over the skin to close the skin pores.

Salt Scrub

Salt scrubs are also amongst the best exfoliants. But remember that you should not use one on your face.
  • Take ½ cup salt (sea salt is best), ½ cup almond oil or olive oil and 10-15 drops of essential oil if desired. Mix the ingredients properly, until well blended.
  • Apply this over your body, except facial skin. Remember, sea salt or table salt can sting, if it gets into an open cut or wound. So, avoid using it, in such a case.

Baking Soda Scrub

  • Mix baking soda with enough aloe vera juice or gel to form a paste. You can use bottled, fresh aloe vera; both work well.
  • Apply this on your body in a circular motion to exfoliate your skin.
  • You can also make a scrub by mixing baking soda with your face lotion or cleanser and use it for effective exfoliation.

Avocado and Cucumber Scrub

If you have extremely dry skin, try this recipe.
  • Take half avocado, remove the seed and all the skin and mash it with a spoon, until it becomes a smooth texture with very few lumps
  • Take 2 inches of cucumber, remove the skin and cut into small pieces. Also add mashed avocado, 1 tbsp white sugar and 1 tbsp of honey.
  • While mixing, keep adding few drops of olive oil till consistency starts smoothing.
  • Remember not to add too much of oil, as you need a paste-like consistency. Apply this scrub to exfoliate your body skin.
  • After exfoliating leave the scrub for 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water. The scrub is so moisturizing that it may become hard to remove, still avoid using soap.
  • Pat dry the skin with cold or warm water only, with a towel. Use toner/antiseptic lotion to close the pores.
  • Apply face cream to retain moisture. Skin exfoliation must be done once a week.
You can try the aforementioned recipes and decide which one works the best for your skin type. You can continue to use that scrub regularly and it will definitely make your skin healthy looking. So, exfoliate regularly and have a great looking skin!
