Dry damaged hair remedies are available at professional hair care salons. But, if you are suffering from minor damage that can be treated at home, then try the following home remedies to treat this hair problem.

Heat Damaged Hair Repair

It can be easily made out when curls do not curl back, remain uneven when wet and look loose. The hair also has many split ends.
The best way to treat it is to cut your hair. But not everyone is ready to part with their precious hair. Thus, start cutting the ends to a length you are comfortable with and continue this cycle every month till all the damage hair is removed.
Avoid hair contact with direct heat for at least two months, if the damage is minor. Once a week, indulge your hair with a protein deep conditioner for restrengthening the hair.

Chemically Damaged Hair Repair

Eggs or mayonnaise help chemically damaged hair repair. Beat eggs and apply them to the hair raw.
Pile your hair on top of your head and cover with a plastic cap or wrap. Wait until the eggs dry. Wash hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner using cold water. Only cold water should be used for rinsing eggs from hair. Use this treatment every two to three days for chemically damaged hair repair.
You can even try massaging your hair with 2 to 3 tablespoons of warm olive oil or coconut oil. Let the oil sit in your hair for 30 minutes or overnight. Wash off the oil with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Use leave-in deep conditioners or avocados, eggs, milk, mayonnaise, vegetable oil or coconut oil and apply it to damaged hair from straightening.

Home Remedies for Dry, Frizzy, Lifeless Hair

Ginger Root

Ginger root has natural anti-inflammatory properties, that help treat dandruff. Sesame oil acts as a natural sunscreen, thus, prevents damage by sun. Mix 1 teaspoon grated ginger in to ¼ cup sesame oil and mix thoroughly. Massage the oil into the scalp. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Wash hair with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Rosemary and Olive Oil

This home remedy for damaged hair very useful, as rosemary has antioxidant properties that protect against cell damage. It is also known to stimulate hair growth. Olive oil helps nourish hair shaft and protects it against damage.
For this remedy, warm ¼ cup of olive oil. Take care that the oil does not start to bubble or shimmer when heating. Pour the warm olive oil in a bottle and add 5 drops of rosemary essential oil to it. Massage this oil into your scalp and cover the head with a shower cap for 15-20 minutes.
Use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for washing off the oil. You can store this concoction for one month, away from sunlight.

Elder Flower

Add two teaspoons of elder flower and comfrey root powder to 500 ml boiling water. Let the mixture stand for half an hour. Add 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar to the mixture and massage it to the scalp. Rinse with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Mashed Banana

The best remedy for severely damaged hair is mashed banana. Mash a banana and add 5 ml of almond oil to it. Apply it to your hair and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse your hair as usual. If you run out of bananas, use can always use avocados in their place.

Mayonnaise

Take plain mayonnaise and use it to coat hair completely. Wear a shower cap and allow it to sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse hair with your normal shampoo. Mayonnaise is one of the best damaged hair home remedies as it contains eggs, vinegar and oil that together help in restoring hair and locking in moisture to prevent further damage.

Vinegar

Vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar is very good for treating damaged hair. Just mix 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar to 1 1/2 cups water. Use this mixture to rinse your hair from roots to tips. Leave it for a few minutes and rinse off again. This will help moisturize dry hair and help give limp hair body and luster.

Beer

Did you know that beer is not just for drinking, but you can use leftover beer to wash your hair? Beer helps in softening hair and maintaining pH balance. You will find your hair becomes shiny and untangled after rinsing hair with beer.

Egg and Honey

Mix honey and eggs together and apply it to your hair. Allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. This is a quick and effective remedy for dry and frizzy hair.
