Clogged Pores on Nose

Sonia Nair

Clogged pores are precursors for skin problems, like acne. Read on to know how to get rid of them.
The human skin has tiny pores that are actually outlets of the sebaceous glands, that release oil to the surface of the skin. There are around 300,000 oil glands, which jointly produce around one ounce of oil daily.
Higher concentrations of oil glands are found on the face, chest and back. The oil released by the sebaceous glands form a thin protective layering over the skin and seals in moisture. This makes the skin soft and lively.
Being the most exposed part of our body, the face is more likely to get affected by elements, like wind, sunlight and cold, leading to clogged pores. Apart from that, the skin on the face is thinner than other parts.
The nose has numerous oil glands, and that is why, clogged pores are mostly found on this part of the face. You have to adopt an appropriate skin care routine to prevent this condition. In order to find a solution, you must understand the different causes for clogged pores on nose.

Causes

There are various factors that can cause clogging of skin pores. One of the main causes is excess production of oil by the sebaceous glands. This can be triggered by factors, like hormonal changes.
Other causes include accumulation of dead cells on the skin, dehydration of the skin, overuse of cosmetics or skin care products, excessive sweating, hereditary factors, improper cleansing, accumulation of dirt, allergic reactions, and excess intake of sugar.
The clogged pores enlarge and affect the natural functioning of the skin, which includes breathing, secretion of oil, exfoliation of dead cells, and absorption of moisture. This affects the looks of the skin, which gets dull with time. The clogged pores may also transform to blackheads, whiteheads, or other forms of acne.

How to Get Rid of Clogged Pores on the Nose

If you have clogged pores, it will take some time to get rid of that condition. You have to follow a skin care regimen that includes regular cleansing, exfoliation and hydration. The skin has to be well hydrated, so as to function properly. Use a toner regularly and drink lots of water.
Regular skin exfoliation along with occasional mask treatments are also recommended for making the pores free of accumulated dirt and for hydrating the skin. Steam before exfoliation may also prove to be beneficial. You can also use pore strips to remove the impurities inside the clogged pore.
If the skin is too much oily, avoid consumption of oily foods. Use skin care products, suitable for your skin type, and avoid heavy make-up. If the clogged pores transform to acne, avoid exfoliation and masking.
In such cases, opt for topical acne treatment. In short, regular skin care is all that is needed to get rid of clogged pores on the nose. Apart from that, drink lots of water, include fruits and vegetable in the diet and adopt a suitable exercise regimen.
