Homemade Body Lotion Recipes

Lotion with Ginger Juice

Ginger has the capacity to eliminate skin dullness, and give your skin a fresh glow, as it increases the blood circulation in the face, when applied. It also prevents the growth of bacteria in the skin, thus preventing further skin complications.
Ingredients
  • ⅛ tsp. Ginger Juice
  • ½ cup Cocoa Butter
  • 2 tsp. Light Sesame Oil
  • 2 tsp. Vitamin E Oil
  • 2 drops of Orange Essential Oil
  • 2 tsp. Light Apricot Kernel Oil
Procedure
  1. Add all the ingredients in a double boiler.
  2. Stir continuously until all the ingredients have melted completely.
  3. Pour into a jar, and allow it to cool.
  4. The lotion can be stored in the refrigerator once cooled.

Lotion with Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has vitamins and minerals that serve as antimicrobial agents, and help moisturize and soften the skin. It also helps to relieve itching caused by dry skin.
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp. Vitamin E Oil
  • ⅓ cup Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp. Lanolin
  • 1 cup Aloe Vera Gel
  • ¾ cup Almond Oil
  • ½ to ¾ ounce beeswax
  • 1 tsp. Essential Oil of your choice
Procedure

Blend together the lanolin, vitamin E, and aloe vera gel in a food processor.

» Heat the coconut oil and beeswax in the microwave, in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling hot water.

» Add almond oil to the mixture of coconut oil and beeswax, and stir together.
» With the food processor on at low, slowly add this mixture to that of aloe vera.

» You will see the mixture turning creamy.

» Add the essential oil of your choice at the end. However, do not blend it for too long. Just slowly stir it in.

» Pour the body lotion in a jar, and allow it to cool.

Lotion for Extra Dry Skin with Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter has immense moisturizing properties, and with its thick creamy consistency, it is an ideal base for a moisturizing cream. It forms a protective layer on the skin, thus, preventing extreme dryness and itching.
Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 3 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp. Distilled Water
  • 2 tbsp. Grated Beeswax.
  • ½ cup Cocoa Butter
Procedure

Melt the beeswax with the distilled water over a low flame.

♠ Blend in the cocoa butter with the mixture.
♠ Slowly add in the sesame oil, coconut oil, and olive oil one by one.

♠ Pour the mixture into a jar, and allow it to cool. It will thicken in the process of cooling.

♠ You may add a few drops of an essential oil of your choice to give it a nice fragrance.
The best cream for dry and itchy skin is the one made at home, simply because it is cheaper than the products available in the market, which, many a time, do not have the desired effect.
Also, the variety of ingredients you can experiment with are wider, enabling you to create your own concoction every single time, minus the side effects. Some other ingredients that can be used to make a dry skin lotion, are jojoba oil and avocado oil.
