There are hundreds of face wash brands that available in the market, promising a beautiful, bright and blemish-free skin, but choosing the one that suits your skin type can be quite a task. Here are a few guidelines to help you to choose the best one, followed by appropriate application and a recipe for a homemade face wash, for a particular skin type.

For Oily Skin

Oily skin is very sensitive and prone to acne, pimples, zits etc. When buying a face wash for oily skin, look for terms such as oil free, non irritating, non drying and non comedogenic. Read the reviews put on the Internet too.
Face washes which have medicated ingredients, such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, are considered the best for sensitive skin. Acne can become aggravated if the face wash has scrubbing agents in it, so always look for simple liquid ones that do not have any scrubbing beads or balls in it.

Homemade Face Wash:

Ingredients required for this are oatmeal, lemon juice and yogurt.
➾   Mix 2 teaspoons of oatmeal, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of yogurt in a bowl. Leave the mixture for a minute to mix and settle neatly.

➾   Now, apply this on the face and leave it on for about ten minutes.

➾    Splash some water on it and start removing it with your fingertips in circular motion. This helps remove excess oil from the skin.

Appropriate Application:

For oily skin, don't use face wash more than twice a day, as it causes severe dryness. To wash your face, move your fingertips gently in a circular motion without rubbing your skin harshly. Then, pat your skin dry with a soft towel. Do not rub the skin, as oily skin is often sensitive and rubbing it vigorously can cause irritation and even more breakouts.

For Dry Skin

When buying a face wash for dry skin, look for terms like moisturizes, contains natural oils, and soothes dryness. The best ones are those with ingredients that replenish the lost moisture of the skin. Olive oil, glycerin, lactic acids, proteins, alpha hydroxy acids, petrolatum, silicone derivatives, Aloe vera and lanolin are best for dry skin.

Homemade Face Wash:

For making a natural face wash, the ingredients required are almond oil, honey, and milk. All these ingredients help in moisturizing the skin along with cleaning it.
➾   Mix 1 teaspoon of each of these ingredients and apply the mixture on the face.

➾   Leave it on for about 10 minutes and then wash off.

➾    With this face wash, the skin will be cleaned but there won't be any dryness.

Appropriate Application:

Excessive washing causes extreme dryness in already dry skin. So, it should be done only once in the morning and once before sleeping. Always use lukewarm water, as hot water dries the skin. Here, the face wash has to be complimented with a thick moisturizing lotion. So, after a face wash, one should apply a moisturizer containing natural oils.
Following the cleansing, toning, moisturizing and scrubbing routine for proper skincare, along with a healthy diet and an exercise routine, will give you an unblemished and glowing skin.
