Bentonite is a type of clay that is known to be very beneficial for body and skin care. It effectively removes all the toxins and waste build-up from our body when it is taken internally. It is also known as montmorillonite. Bentonite clay mask helps draw excess oil and dirt from the skin surface and also unclogs the pores. The benefits include removal of dead skin cells and increase in blood circulation. It also tightens the skin, hence, it's a perfect solution for loose and wrinkled skin. This material also has healing, ant-inflammatory, and anti-infection properties. One of the benefits also includes reduction of blemishes.
While you try the following homemade facial mask recipes, make sure that you use glass bowls only, and not metal bowls. Also, apply a toner after you wash off the mask. Finish by applying a moisturizer to restore the moisture.

Recipe #1

Here's the basic face mask recipe. All you need is clay, water, a glass bowl, spoon, and a brush for making this. Take 4 tablespoons of clay in a bowl and slowly add water to it. Stir as you add water. When you get a paste of desired consistency, stop adding water and stir well. Apply it on your skin and wash off after 20 minutes.

Recipe #2

Take 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay, 1½ tablespoons of oatmeal, and 1 tablespoons of baking soda. Also take 2-3 drops of tea tree oil. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. Add ½-1 tbsp of water as required. Now, apply this mask on your skin and leave it for drying. You can wash it off after 20 minutes using lukewarm water. This is the best mask for oily skin.

Recipe #3

For this recipe, you will need bentonite clay, sea salt, olive oil, and warm water. In a plastic bowl, start mixing 1 cup of bentonite clay, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and ¼ cup of sea salt. Stir well and slowly add warm water. Keep adding water till the paste is of medium consistency. Apply this mixture using a flat brush on your skin. For added benefits, you can wrap the skin over which you have applied mask using a transparent sheet, foil, or cotton towel. After 30 minutes, remove the wrap and rinse off the mask. This will deeply nourish your skin and will leave it silky soft.

Recipe #4

For this recipe, take a cup of bentonite clay, 1½ teaspoon of honey, and 1½ teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add water as required. Apply the paste on your skin. This is especially beneficial for dark circles under the eyes. Now, leave it for drying for 20 minutes before washing it off with warm water.
