A toner is an integral part of our facial skin care regime. It helps in cleansing the skin and also contracting the skin pores and reducing their appearances. The main reason why people love to use apple cider vinegar as a skin toner instead of any branded product available in the market is because it does not contain any harsh synthetic chemicals.
It is obtained by natural processing of organic apples. Thus, it can be safely used on the skin without causing any harm to the skin in the long run.

Benefits

There are several benefits of using apple cider vinegar for the skin, mainly because it is rich in many nutrients. It contains a high amount of antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, B6 and E that can prevent degeneration of the skin cells and delay the appearance of wrinkles.
Besides, it contains useful minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and enzymes that are beneficial for improving the skin condition. Apple cider vinegar is well-known for its antiseptic properties. Its acidic properties destroy the bacteria or fungus growing on the skin surface.
It can also prevent their regrowth and control the skin infection. Therefore, those who are prone to acne should use it for curing acne and prevent an acne outbreak in future. Similarly, those with fungal skin infections on the face like ringworm infection can apply apple cider vinegar to get relief from it. It helps to restore normal pH balance of the skin.
When the skin pH balance is not proper, then the skin either becomes too oily or too dry and gets irritated very easily. It can bring about soothing relief from the itchy skin rashes by reducing the itching sensation and skin inflammation. Its alpha hydroxy acids dissolve out the unwanted dead skin cells and leave behind a soft, healthy glowing skin.

Recipes

You cannot use concentrated form of apple cider vinegar directly on the skin as it can cause skin irritation and discoloration of the skin. Therefore, you have to dilute it with other components before applying it on skin. Here, we will discuss three such skin toner recipes with apple cider vinegar as the main ingredient.
Recipe #1
You can simply dilute the vinegar with some distilled water to prepare a skin toner. If you have not used apple cider vinegar toner before, then you should mix only 1 part of it with 8 parts of water.
Pour the ingredients in a glass bottle and shake it thoroughly so that they blend well with each other. Then apply it on the skin with a cotton pad. As your skin gets used to it, you can increase its concentration gradually by making a mixture of 1 part of apple cider vinegar with 4 parts of water.
Recipe #2
If you want to suppress the typical smell of apple cider vinegar, then you can dilute it with some green tea. Boil one cup of water in a pan and pour it in a bowl where a green tea bag has been placed.
Keep it untouched for the next 15 minutes and then take out the tea bag. Now, mix one-third cup of green tea with equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and spring water. Stir the mixture properly and your toner is ready to use.
Recipe #3
The preparation of toner for oily skin is slightly different as it should remove the excess oil from the skin. For this, you need one-third cup of apple cider vinegar, two-third cup of witch hazel and some lavender essential oil.
Pour all the ingredients in a clean bottle and shake it to mix them up properly. Before every use, you must shake the toner bottle once, pour it on a damp cotton pad and then apply it on your face.
Many people are slightly apprehensive about using apple cider vinegar toner because of its smell. However, we would like to assure them that its smell decreases as it dries up on the skin. If you have open wounds on the skin surface, then you should not apply the toner on it as it can cause skin irritation.
Those who have extremely sensitive skin, should do a patch test under the chin. Apply the toner and keep it for 15 minutes. If it does not irritate the skin, then you are free to use it on the entire face. So, go ahead and enjoy the benefits of this toner for a glowing skin complexion.
