7 Ways to Make Your Hair Grow

Nothing is more frustrating than waiting and waiting for your hair to grow! On average, hair growth can occur at a rate of ¼ - ½ inch per month. There are many opinions out there around what helps hair grow faster, but which ones can you trust? These seven tips can help you get healthier, happier hair which will be much more likely to grow long for you.

1. Wash it Less Frequently

This may seem counter-intuitive, but washing your hair less often can actually promote hair growth. Loading up your hair with shampoo each time you step into the shower can keep your scalp from building up the necessary oils it needs to stay hydrated and healthy. If you are showering every day, consider skipping the shampoo step.

1. Wash it Less Frequently

You can still rinse your hair (cold water is best!) and condition the ends, but letting a few days go by in-between shampooing can actually help your hair grow longer and healthier.

2. Use a Clarifying Shampoo

When you wash your hair, make it count. Every now and then, in addition to regular cleaning, using a clarifying shampoo can add new life to your hair. Clarifying shampoos are great because they strip away the dirt and product build-up that occurs near the scalp without applying tons of chemicals to the roots of your hair.
However, it will do a pretty solid job of cleaning your hair, so, as with the first tip, make sure you use it sparingly.

3. Condition Regularly

That being said, feel free to condition your hair regularly. If you are not shampooing your hair every day, you may find that conditioning your roots leaves your hair looking a bit too oily.
And that makes sense because your hair naturally produces its own oils, especially when you are not shampooing. However, the longer your hair gets, the harder it is for these oils to reach the tips of your hair. So to keep every inch looking great, condition the ends of your hair regularly.

4. Brush it Out

Never underestimate a good brushing! After each shower, gently brush your hair. This not only will help spread healthy oils throughout the entirety of your strands, but it will also allow you to loosen any tangles that may have occurred during your rinse.
In the mornings or at night, when your hair is dry, brush it again to make sure no threads are twisted and tangled. By doing this, you can reduce the likelihood that your hair will break or be pulled out, which can help it continue to grow long.

5. Avoid Excess Heat and Color

There is no doubt that using heat and coloring your hair regularly can cause damage. To grow your hair out longer, you may want to cut back on the heat and color. If you need to color your hair, try switching to an all-natural or vegan hair dye that will go a bit easier on your locks.

6. Use Oils

Using oils can help your hair stay well-hydrated, shiny, and healthy. Coconut oil, argan oil, and keratin oil are just a few that can contribute to healthy hair growth. By applying these just after you have showered, you can keep split ends to a minimum and your strands can become stronger and less prone to damage.

7. Take Care of Yourself

Surprisingly, taking good care of yourself as a whole can help your hair grow longer, too. What you eat and how much water you drink can impact the appearance and overall health of your hair (and your skin and nails, too!)
If you want to grow your hair long, check whether your habits are contributing to your goal. Growing your hair long takes time, however, by using these seven tips, you can surely have healthier hair!
